When the war ended in South East Asia in 1975, the U.S. government opened its gates to thousands of Vietnamese. The images in this exhibition reveal how Vietnamese Americans adapted to life in the U.S. and the challenges they faced while maintaining their culture during the last three decades. The exhibition also highlights the contributions they have made to American culture.
Developed by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program (APAP), with Vietnamese American scholar Vu Pham as the curator, and organized for travel by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES).
