Brian Jungen (b. 1970, Dunne-za First Nations/Swiss-Canadian) created this mobile from parts of suitcases and an overturned rowboat for the 2008 Biennale of Sydney, Australia. It depicts five animals based on those the indigenous Australians named to describe their constellations -- a shark, crocodile, emu, sea eagle, and possum. This suspended mobile was inspired by the indigenous Australians' sophisticated understanding of the movement of the stars across the heavens.
