The English term "bonsai" embraces several styles of miniature plantings and gardens -- including Chinese penjing (scenery in a container) -- featuring rocks and dwarfed trees. To show how the pot used to hold a bonsai is also important to the overall aesthetic impact, this display features 8 antique Chinese pots revealing a continuum of taste from imperial opulence to restrained rusticity.
