Museum: Renwick Gallery

The exhibition of 165 pieces of furniture and smaller decorative objects documents the contributions made by Chicago furniture designers and manufacturers to the artistic and cultural development of the U.S. Included are factory production and patent furniture, "art" furniture (modern gothic, arts and crafts, art nouveau) and modern and international styles designed by artisans, interior designers, and architects. For example, Frank Lloyd Wright, Eero Saarinen, and Mies van der Rohe introduced furniture styles to complement their architecture.
