Museum: American Indian Museum
Location: 3rd level, outside Resource Center
Native Americans use baskets in their ceremonies, language, stories, dance, song, and for food. Through some 30 contemporary baskets, this display examines the ways in which Native baskets and their makers are literally and symbolically "carriers of culture."
This display is in tandem with the Smithsonian Folklife Festival's "Carriers of Culture" section (June 30-July 4 and July 7-11).
Curated by the Michigan State University Museum.
