- Get Involved
October 29, 2000 – April 22, 2001
Museum: Arthur M. Sackler Gallery
Location: Sublevels 1 and 2
On view are approximately 75 vessels chosen from 3 groups of Asian ceramics given by Osborne and Gratia Hauge and Victor and Takako Hauge between 1996 and 1998. Approximately 30 pieces are painted and burnished earthenware from ancient Iran; 15 are low-temperature glazed earthenware works from Islamic Iran and Iraq; and 30 are glazed stoneware vessels from the Khmer empire. The exhibition examines the three ceramic traditions based on technology, relationships to other indigenous media, and response to Indian and Chinese ceramic models.
