This Archives of American Art exhibition juxtaposes Honore Sharrer's masterpiece of midcentury American art Tribute to the American Working People with documents from her personal archives, including correspondence, drawings, sketches, and photographs that provide insight into her artistic process. Examples of photographs taken by and used by the artist to create her work include factory workers and schoolchildren. Sharrer's masterpiece, which she worked on from 1947 to 1951, consists of five panels, each meticulously painted in oil on composition board, and depicts scenes from everyday life from this time period.
