On view are 65 images of women who have made significant contributions to the history, development, and culture of the United States. Highlights include a 17th-century portrait of Pocahontas, the Gallery's oldest portrait; a bronze bust of environmentalist Rachel Carson; a poster of Dorothy Dandrige in her memorable role as Carmen Jones; a photograph of Olympic gold-medal winner Dorothy Hamill; and a drawing of Jackie Kennedy done for the cover of TIME magazine.
