Aerial Aircraft Carriers

November 23, 1981 – November 18, 1984

Air and Space Museum
601 Independence Ave., SW
Washington, DC

Location: Langley Theater entrance, Gallery 115, 1st Floor, East Wing

On view in this small exhibition are photographs and a film telling the story of aircraft (mother-ships) that carry other aircraft (parasites). A prime example is the Space Shuttle traveling cross-country perched atop a 747. Also on view is a model of a mythical aerial aircraft carrier complete with living facilities (including a church).
